Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas was just what Dave & I wanted it to be this year. Relaxing, fun, and at home. It was nice to wake up at a leisurely time & take our time getting downstairs. The kids were super excited but patient as they waited for us to grant permission to decend the stairs. Once we were down the tradition of passing out the stockings began. Dave always gives each child their stocking and they are allowed to dig in. It was neat having a fireplace to hang our stockings at this year.

The kids were very happy with all the candy & little treats inside their stockings as well as the bigger items placed on the mantle. I think Bugs ate at least 1/3 of his candy before we realized it. LOL!

Next it was time for presents. Again it is tradition that Dave passes them out to everyone. We don't make every one wait but do ask them to take it slow so we can see what they are receiving. I love hearing the cries of, "THANK YOU!" "I LOVE IT!" and "LOOK, MOMMY! LOOK!" in the midst of the tearing of paper. Seeing their excitement and hearing their thank-yous makes the time I spent selecting, shopping & wrapping all worth while. It's fun to see what the excitement & reactions I had imagined come true in front of my eyes.

One of my very favorites were the boys and their Star Wars costumes. Oh, their reactions were priceless and then to see them all dressed up! What a memory! It may sound sillly but I was so thankful God allowed us to find those costumes & on sale so they were in our budget too! My other favorite was when the girls received their big gift. You'll see that in my next post. Their reactions couldn't have been anymore perfect!

It was a wonderful morning with lots of smiles, cheers, thank yous & love. After presents we hung out while the kids played & played. A little later I took a nap, (couldn't keep my eyes open), and then in the evening we had our big meal of ham, mashed potatoes, peas, corn, cresent rolls & sweet potatoes. What a glorious day!

The stockings were brimming over with treats.
