This One, That One, Any One?

This afternoon it was hot & humid. After an unsuccessful nap time we made a spur of the moment decision to jump in the van & head to the local lake. We got there but were disappointed to find the life guards weren't letting anyone in the water. A storm was visible in the distance. We drove across town to another lake and thought we had at least a few minutes before the storm caught up with us. Released from the van we all made a happy run for the lake only to hear thunder clapping. Wah. We headed back to the van disappointed for a second time. The only choice then was to drive home. Fortunately we weren't that far away. Once we pulled in the driveway I yelled to the kids, "Head for the pool!" They all ran shedding their clothes as they went. There wasn't much water in the pool as I had emptied most of it out the other day for cleaning but that was okay. They wildly splashed and Bugs even did a funny belly slide into the pool. We let them go for a few before dashing into the house and away from the approaching storm. The kicker is the storm didn't arrive for several hours. After all that! It must have passed just to the south of us. Dave took the kids back outside after about 1/2 hour and they had lots of fun splashing around & getting cool. All was not lost. We had time as a family & the kids had a lesson in "going with the flow".
We are going to try again for the lake tomorrow. Wish us luck! =)
