Cold Night

I noticed that the house was still cold even though I had turned the thermostat up when we came home from church tonight. Dave went down to check and we are out of oil. He is very angry at himself for letting this happen. He had checked it at the beginning of the weekend and thought we had enough to get by until Monday. It is supposed to be very cold, in the low 20's, and we are in the middle of an ice storm. Even upstairs is chilly and that is unusual in our house. Dave is going to call first thing in the morning and I'm praying they will be able to drive out here and deliver the oil. The ice storm is supposed to last well into early afternoon and below freezing temps will last beyond that.

I'm praying that our pipes don't freeze. That's what I'm most worried about right now. We have no hot water either, of course. Praise God for all those extra blankets He has sent our way over the years! We will definitely be warm. The girls & Ian have extra layers, socks & hats on and we moved the girls upstairs. Dave is cooking something in the oven to use that heat & is going to turn on the kerosene/electric heater in the basement for awhile. We can't leave it on while we sleep for safety sake, (plus it guzzles electricity), but it will at least get some heat down there. God is good.

The girls were a bit worried at first but we talked about all that the pioneers faced specifically the Ingalls family. Remember when Pa had to shovel snow off of them one morning? Remember the long winter? We decided we have it very good compared to what they faced. And we are going to face it with a smile & thankfulness for what do we have. We have so much more than many others. Thank you God for our many blessings.

Laura Ingalls Style!
The girls bundle up and move to the boy's room for the night.

Warm & Cozy
E-boy declared he was "all warm & cozy" as he settled in for the night.

Snug As A Bug
Bugsy is all snug and warm in his hat & blankets.

Happy/Sad Davey
Dave decided to make some fudge. He said, "Fudge makes me happy". He needed some cheering up tonight. Poor guy.
