On Tuesday we went to one of our local fire stations. One of the mom's from our homeschool group set up a field trip for us. (Thank you, Amy!) My kids all had a fantastic time. In my group my boys were the most dazzled. I don't think Bugs has ever stood that still or been that facinated on a field trip before. E-boy was one of the first to volunteer whenever the chance arose. Boo was on the quiet side but enjoyed doing everything. Sweet Pea volunteered to take Bugs around which freed me up to take pics. That was very helpful indeed! We had a wonderful time. I don't think we've all been that relaxed on a field trip. The firemen were all very nice & informative. It was a great trip!
This gentleman was the first to speak to us & introduce us to the station.
All the kids got to climb in the fire truck & sit. Cool! Here's E-boy!
Boo's Turn!
He kept saying, "Tank ewe, fireman guy!" Too cute!
Listening to Fireman Rob
Pulling the Lever on the Hose
The Firemen were so kind & gentle with Bugsy.
Showing the Saw & Jaws of Life
I can't remember if that was his name. He demonstrated the various pieces of equipment the firemen wear & why they are important.
Sweet Pea & Bugs
(These pics came out kind of dark as we were standing b/twn the fire trucks.)
The kids were able to hear what he sounded like with all his equipment on. They practiced listening for him & calling loudly for help.
You can see Boo if you look carefully to the right.
Bugsy's head can barely be seen over the steering wheel. Lol.
He showed the kids how much power it takes to open the chute for the fire pole.
E-boy was in little boy heaven when he found out the firemen know the Rescue Heroes!
Five of the firemen slid down the pole to demonstrate. I have the demo on video and will try to post it on here later.
The children all watched in awe as the firemen came shooting down the pole.
