From Sulking to Success
We were working on Elvis' Wordly Wise. Here is how he started:
Then the frustration............
After I showed him how silly he sounded and looked he began to relax a bit. I told him if he kept up saying, "I can't! I can't!" then he was only making himself fail. If he told himself "I can!" then he would tap into his smart brain and begin to succeed. After some struggling he finally turned the corner. And guess who was waiting for him there? SUCCESS!
He finished the previously labeled impossible and did a fantastic job!

End of the Week

It has been a long, work filled week. From last Friday to this Saturday we have had 6 showings. Whew! Two of those were 2nd lookers. We have not heard one word of feedback from any. Can you say frustrating? I'm taking advantage of our "day off" today to rest. Sweet Pea is too. I know God has a plan for us but I really wish He would let us in on it. I can't imagine spending the winter here alone.
The younger kids are enjoying some time outside today. It poured rain all day yesterday & they are happy to see the sunshine again. I'm looking forward to the cooler temperatures the week is supposed to bring. I love fall.

Tearing my Hair Out
It's one of those days with my kids. All but the youngest is driving me up a wall. What does it take to motivate them into being responsible? To do even one chore without being nagged to pieces? To sit down and stay sitting down for more than a minute to complete some written schoolwork? To stay out of what they have been told not to touch without permission? Sometimes I feel more like a drill sergeant than a mom or teacher. *big sigh* Both the girls have goals they desperately want to reach. Boo wants to "earn" a bird & S.Pea a hamster. These are big things for us to consent to. We made a deal that if they are responsible for a certain # of days than they would get these prized possessions. So far I don't think we've seen one full day from S.Pea and Boo started off with a bang on Sunday but that soon fizzled out. What am I doing wrong? I just know I'm going to be bald before I'm 40.
