ON THE PRAIRIE

We have now begun our second book in our Prairie Primer studies, Little House on the Prairie.  We are already enjoying it so much.  Last week we made covered wagons.  This week we learned about Native American hand talking (sign language), pictographs and several other ways the Native Americans communicated with their own tribes and other tribes.  We learned about gophers and prairie hens and other animals on the prairie.  We made masks and played games.  Every week Bugs asks if it is Prairie Primer Co-op week.  This is such a fun unit study made even better by awesome friends.

Hard at work creating their own pictographs.

 Love the tongue.  =)

Learning about birds of the prairie, gophers and prairie dogs.

This photo makes me smile seeing how engaged all the kids are in learning.

 Prairie Chicken.

 A new game.  Wack-A-Gopher.

They thought this game was hilarious.  I have to admit I am a big fan too.

He is loving this unit study.

Gathered around the computer learning Native American Hand Talking.

Deep concentration.

We were getting into it!  Rain!

After we were finished suddenly an impromptu marshmallow war broke out.  LOL!

HILARIOUS!

Are You A Kitty Too?

Josie is one of our youngest kitties. She was born last March & has been raised with Gloria. Sweet Pea came into her room & could hear Gloria squeaking up a storm. She wondered what was upsetting Gloria & a glance in her cage gave her the answer. Josie had somehow crawled into Gloria's cage. At first Gloria was not happy with this intruder. Josie, on the other hand made herself right at home curling up in the corner & taking a nap. After a bit Gloria got used to Josie being there & even came over to check her new roommate out. Josie never tried to attack Gloria or harm her in any way. My guess is Josie thinks of Gloria as another kitty. It cracked us all up & we're guessing this won't be the last time we find Josie snuggled up with her pal.

Baby News!

I had my first appointment with my new OBGYN yesterday. What a relief to be seen again! It's been over 2 months and I was feeling uneasy not having medical care during that time. Of course if I had felt I absolutely needed to be seen I would have gone to the emergency room. Being back under a doctor's care is such a blessing.

My new doctor seems very nice & I felt comfortable with her. I especially liked the way she took time to speak to both Boo & Elvis asking them questions and really listening when they answered. (I had brought them with me & had Sweet Pea babysit Bugs at home.) She also made certain that I had an U/S (ultrasound) scheduled before I left the office. I guessed I missed my u/s that was supposed to happen in the 16th to 20th week and she wanted to make sure no more time was missed. Whew! I now have an appointment in Nashville for the end of the month. I am SUPER excited! I hope Baby will cooperate and we can find out boy or girl. Most of all I am anxious to see Baby for myself and hopefully hear that he/she is healthy and growing fine.

Last night I was looking through the journal the doctor's office gave me and could hardly believe we are in the 6th month already! Time is really flying by! Dave & I are eager to get working on the Baby's room soon. Lots of boxes to relocate!

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Baby and joining in our excitement. It has meant the world to me to be able to share this miracle with you and our joy at his/her upcoming arrival. It's a little lonely some days having moved so far away from home & not really having anyone here yet. I'm thankful I have all of you to share with. And, Megan I'm especially thankful for you, Friend. You've been with me every step of the way matching my excitement with your own & encouraging me when I've felt so rotten I could barely get out of bed in the morning. I don't know what I would have done without you these past months. Thank you, Friend! {{{{{HUGS}}}}

A Treasured Visit

I can't believe I haven't posted these pictures! When we were up in New Hampshire visiting Nana I had the immense privilege of visiting one of my very best friends who lives not too far away. Megan gracefully opened her home to me sharing her precious family. I was thrilled to take a tour of her new home. It is beautiful filled with love & family. She has made it comfortable from the moment you walk in. Her children are delightful. I wish I had taken more pictures. I guess I was so caught up in talking to them and seeing all they had to show me that I completely forgot about my camera for awhile! Whoa! =)

I loved being with all of them & I enjoyed every minute I was there. I found it very hard to leave and kept delaying my leaving. Megan even took me out to dinner so we could have some girl chat time. What an amazing and generous gift! Thank you again, Stephen & Megan! The food was wonderful & the time to chat is time I am still cherishing.

I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of her 2 oldest children. I can't believe I did that!
