Dollar Tree Treasures

One of my favorite stores is the Dollar Tree. They have lots of things for our homeschool, organizing, cleaning & more. Monday the kids & I visited all the Dollar Tree stores in our city. Each have a little something different to add to the mix. These are a few of our treasures that we brought home.

This poster is for Princess.
Bugs posed with it for me since Princess was taking a nap.

There are 2 posters in the package.  This is the other one.  Cute!

Bugs got this 2-pack for his room.
One poster......

The other poster.  (His favorite.)

Elvis picked animal posters.  Big surprise there!  Lol!

The 2nd poster.

One of the main items I was seeking were workbooks for Princess. Here they are!

This is for Bugsy.  I used to love these as a kid.

Perfect for our astronomy studies!

I think this will be a fun way to review favorite books this year with my boys.

Who is doing election activities this fall?  We are!

Some handy items for school.

Fun items for Princess.
She loves, loves, LOVES My Little Ponies!
(More details on plans for her in an upcoming post.)

Sweet Pea is going to do lessons with Princess too.  She has been working on her plans & bought a BUNCH of fun items at the Dollar Tree.  See why we call her Princess?  Lol.
Oh, and I found some fun things for our Treasure Hunt too.  You'll see those soon in our Back-to-School post.  =)

Grocery Bargains

I found some terrific deals last week. First at the Discount Bread Store we found these on the day old rack. How can you beat 50 cents & $1? I bought 2 of each - one to enjoy now & one for the freezer. YUM!

Next we stopped at one of the discount grocery stores. I am always careful in these stores b/c not everything is a deal. Many items are priced as high as or sometimes higher than the regular grocery store. BUT there are also many items priced below. So I do my homework & keep my eyes wide open. That day I found some awesome deals on meat. $1.29/lb. for pork chops and very meaty pork ribs! $1.49/lb. for a pork roast and $1.69/lb for hamburger! Cha-ching!

Some more of my finds at the bread store..........$1 a loaf of stone ground wheat bread (normally over $3) and .79 cents/loaf for 100% wheat bread. It was the same days date. No problem as I just throw it in the freezer! Great savings! I bought 2 loaves of one and 4 loaves of the other.

My freezer is well stocked for the moment, (these were taken last Tuesday), & thanks to Boo Bear very nicely organized. =0)

Finds at the Dollar Store

On Tuesday we got out of the house and went to the Dollar Store near us. We were able to find some things for our upcoming trip to visit Dave's family as well as things for Elvis' birthday this summer. The kids each bought something with their own money too. It was a fun trip.

Aren't These Neat?
These are smaller versions of the family water jug we have. Each of the older kids got one & they are very happy to have their own. I love the colors and the flip spouts. They hold much more than a water bottle or a sippy and can be refilled which is a "green step". As my friend Tawdra would say, "Al Gore is happy!" =)

For the Girls
I picked these up for beach totes for the girls. At $1 a piece who could resist these fun colors?

Cute Decorations
I thought these would be cute decorations for Elvis' birthday party this summer. He wants an ocean animal theme with the spotlight on dolphins.

Perfect!
Elvis can have this as a party decoration and then it can be used again as decor in his room. Yay!

Ride 'Em Cowboy!
I bought these as another party decoration. Again these can be used later making them even more of a buy. Elvis received a dolphin one a couple of years ago from his sister and loves it. It is a riot to watch him play with it in the water. We got one for Bugs as well.

Keep Them Busy
The girls each selected one of these (there were several to choose from) for our road trip to see Dave's family. It is a looooong drive and these will help to pass some of the time.

Toy Store
These did not come from the Dollar Store but rather our local toy store. They were having a deal of 'Buy 3, Get 1 Free'. I didn't see any toys that we wanted but did find these coloring books. These will be saved for our trip.

Treasure Hunt!

We stopped into Michael's Friday for a few great deals. While we were there one of the ladies came up to us and told us about a treasure hunt they were going to host on Saturday. We were a little late getting there, (we called ahead and they said to come anyway), but still had a great time. The treasure hunt had just started but the few kids that were there made quick work of it. Out of our 4 children only one treasure block was found. I told the kids it was okay and that it was our fault because we were late getting there. The lady in charge was so kind. She noticed what happened and took several blocks and hid them again so our kids could search for them. She didn't have to do that. I thought it was very sweet. After the kids found them it was time to get their "treasures". They were allowed a certain number of treasures depending on how many blocks they found. Some of the other kids had to have a maximum number given because they had too many. There was one family there that was snatching up things as fast as they could grab them. Why is there always someone like that? Again the lady was very kind and helped our kids find some treasures they liked. Our kids had a blast. The lady was super nice and I was surprised at all the free things they were given. They were even allowed to keep the blocks! They are the stamp blocks and will be fun for crafts.

LOOK! It's Elton John!

I Couldn't Resist
I have to admit I want a pair of these glasses. Wouldn't it be fun to go out in public & see the looks from others? LOL!

Elvis's Treasures

These Will Be Fantastic With His Pirate Study!

Yep, these too! The lady gave us an extra one for Bugs.

I picked up a bucket & shovel set for each of the children as they were only $1. I bought some note cards too. Fifty cents a pack! They cost several dollars in the department stores.
These are the deals I found yesterday at Michael's.
DMC Embroidery Floss = 4 for 99 cents
Clay flower pots = 3 for 99 cents
Scrapbooking Scissors (they cut specific designs) = 3 for 99 cents
Notepad with magnet on the back = 50 cents (I use these for grocery lists, etc.)

Back to Michaels

Michael's had a 2-day sale starting today. These are the deals I found:

DMC Embroidery Floss = 4 for 99 cents

Scrapbook Scissors (the kind with the fancy edging) = 3 for 99 cents

Clay pots = 3 for 99 cents

There were a few other things on sale but I didn't need them. However they did have some 'To Do' list tablets with a magnet on the back for 50 cents each. I picked up a couple b/c I like to use them for grocery lists. They are convenient to hang on the frig.

Cautiously Excited!

Dave bought me a memory card for my new camera & a laser printer and a toner cartridge for our homeschool. (Thanks for the recommendation, Alison!) We purchased the printer because it is much better on ink & prints far more copies per toner cartridge. In the long run it will save us $$. By the grace of God we haven't opened any of them. To be honest we haven't had any time! Clock I was looking through the Staples flier online and can you believe EVERY ONE OF THESE ARE ON SALE THIS WEEK?!?!?!?!? I've Got It I am so incredibly excited!!!!!!! I have been hunting for lower prices but hadn't been able to find them. I knew it was possible because A. said that several times she has seen this same printer for far less than we bought it for.
I am cautiously happy dancing! Dancing Dave is going to take all of them back tomorrow night with receipts in hand. Hopefully I will be doing a full fledged happy dance tomorrow night! I'll let you know the details! Newspaper 3
