Family Room

Today was the toughest day yet. Not only were we tackling one of the hardest rooms but we were low on energy. I'm proud to say we set a goal & pushed through. The girls & Elvis even made some headway on the boys' room. Here's some more pictures!

The boys' room before.

I'll post after pics when it's done.
Hopefully this weekend!

The Family Room
(See my previous post for 'Before' pics)

Dusted, vacuumed under & behind, purged & organized.

These shelves are cleaned & organized from top to bottom. Even the tippy top has been sorted through & dusted. To top it off I shelved all the books by subject or theme.

Progress in the boys' room.

Nice & neat!
The stuff on the table is going back to their homes in the office. =)

Such a great feeling!
(The tub is stuff that is going.)

I'm proud of my Clean Team!

Day #4 ~ Clean Team Hits the Family Room

Today was Day #4. I overslept. I am feeling the wear & tear of this week on my body. The kids were tired today too but we plugged on.

First we moved all of the sectional couch. The kids picked up all the junk that had accumulated both under & in the couch while I vacuumed. We then shoved it all back in place & worked on cleaning up the rest of the floor.

Chaos!

I worked on the bookshelves over by the television, put all the videos away & then came over to work on these shelves. We now have a tub of books for the yard sale. I think this is pretty good considering I purged before we moved.

Elvis helped to sort the books into 3 categories - science, history & fun reading.

Bugs helped pick up trash & a few toys. Then it was time for a movie break.

Boo worked with Elvis sorting. She then shelved the books acccording to those categories.

Tonight we worked on sorting out the various bins & tubs. They have all sorts of stuff in them that doesn't belong so this took some time. About 3 hours to be exact. We even dragged out the big tubs from the boys closet. Several months ago I worked really hard sorting everything, cleaning out & labeling in their room. It is helping during this clean up. I also vacuumed under all the white shelves and found a lot under there, washed up toys, and tossed lots of garbage. Dave helped sort some stuff too.

I finished sorting out the books, organizing them & stacked them on the freshly cleaned shelves. You can also see some of the newly sorted toys snug in their bins.

The shelves, desk & T.V. have all been cleaned & dusted. I even have an empty shelf! Well, for now anyway. Lol!

Now all the videos fit in here with room to spare!
Sweet Pea worked hard too. She took all the pictures today which is why you don't see her in them. =0)

We hope to finish this room tomorrow. I still need to organize the books on the other shelves, clean off the tops of the shelves and go through the toys. We may try to squeeze in the dreaded boy's room. It's a jungle in there!

The Clean Team

Today was Day #1 of our 'Cleaning & Organization Week'. I was excited to get started but life had other plans. A friend needed our help watching her dogs while she had to run out of town at the last minute. We were happy to help. Sweet Pea went over this morning with Dave before he left for work. BUT she left the key she was given in the van which Dave took to work. Ack! I ended up having to drive 45 minutes to go get the keys. Dave used his lunch break to meet me halfway. What a guy! Since I had to go out I decided to get my trip to the Sleep Center out of the way. I picked up my new BIPAP mask and then ran to Lowe's & the Dollar Tree. By the time I was done with all my running I had been gone almost 3 hours. Then we had to go let the dogs out at our friend's. When we got home we all took a break for lunch & then finally got started.

My CLEAN TEAM

I picked up these nail aprons at Lowe's to add a little fun as we tackled our cleaning. I also picked up a few extra buckets & cleaning supplies. Go team!

Isn't she cute?

I decided to start with the videos. Little did I know what I had started!
I didn't realize how many videos we have. I had cleaned out before we moved 2 years ago but more have come in the door. Plus they are kept in 3 different places in the house which hid how many they really were. Wow!
Princess was good as gold. She was into the videos trying to help bless her little heart. It was where she couldn't walk anymore since the floor was covered so Sweet Pea put her in here with some toys. She played & played.

Elvis sorting videos.

While Elvis & I worked on the videos, (sorting, matching covers to videos, cleaning out), Bugs & Boo scrubbed both the laundry room/pantry & kitchen floors. They did great!

Sweet Pea did some little odd jobs & then came over to help us with the videos.
It was a HUGE job!
Elvis & Sweet Pea brought down all the videos from upstairs. He was proud that he thought of using his apron pockets to help out.

Working hard!

Boo joined the troops in the living room.

Time for an icy pop break!

Yummers!

4 hours later! Ta-Dah!
This is the downstairs entertainment center. The school & more expensive videos are in the office/schoolroom. The rest of the kids ones are upstairs in the family room for Quiet Time & bedtime.
I am proud to say we parted with ALL these videos!

After
We put all the videos in their new homes, vacuumed, picked up the doo-dads and we are done with our first major cleaning/organization project. My living room is back, baby!
Tomorrow we tackle the kitchen cabinets!

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. It started on Friday with a "Me Day". My Mom had the kids at her house and Dave picked them up on his way home from work. I had the entire day to spend at home any way I wanted. I was very tempted to clean but had "orders" from my hubby to relax. God bless him! I read, took a bubble bath, watched some of my favorite shows, played on the computer and took a wonderful nap. It was a glorious day! Yesterday we hung out at home, spent some time outside, worked on the girls' room and I got in another nap. Today we dressed up & went to church. The kids gave me little presents and Dave bought us Taco Bell for lunch. That was perfect for us. I had another relaxing afternoon & then was treated to a delicious, homemade dinner. Dave & the girls made marinated London Broil, rosemary potatoes, cinnamon muffins & broccoli. Oh my goodness it was good! We had homemade strawberry shortcake for dessert. I am full to the brim! They also bought me a beautiful iris plant. I always love getting new perennials for my gardens. It was a fantastic weekend and I feel rested & ready to face a new week. I needed that badly and the relaxing 3-day weekend was the best present ever. Thank you my loving family!

He kept saying, " Go bye-bye. Go to Walmart." I thought this was funny.
