Apples & More Apples!
We are having lots of fun making our apples into tasty treats. The first treat on the menu was applesauce. Elvis was eager to get started. He still talks about the time Grannie took them to an orchard with a friend of hers to pick. Afterward they made homemade applesauce together. That was 3 years ago.
We had to buy a new apple peeler corer as ours was worn out.
Princess saw Boo & Elvis helping and didn't want to be left out. She pulled up a chair & got right to work.

She enjoyed handing me apples to peel & core.

Boo got a kick out of the way Princess jumped in & took over.

The Verdict Is In!
Today I made a new recipe for us to try for dinner. Spinach Chicken Alfredo! I got it off of the Internet & it sounded pretty simple and yummy. It's a crock pot recipe & I'm a big fan of those.
Everyone made fun of me for taking a photo of my plate but I liked the presentation. Lol!
The kids were really good helpers today so we had a special dessert as a reward. They didn't know it was coming. Do you think this boy likes sweets?
YUMMY!
She was sleepy so Daddy helped her out with her dessert.
For all our friends out there I had our family rate the Spinach Chicken Alfredo on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 of course was the highest/best. I was pleased with the results. Princess & Dave said they liked it a lot but there were other dishes that were favorites which ranked higher. I thought it was funny that they analyzed it so deeply. Overall it was a hit & Boo asked if I would serve it again soon. The boys, Boo & Dave all had second helpings so that says something good. Lol! =0)
We didn't have Rotini so we used spaghetti instead.
The Votes:
Dave = 8
Elvis = 9
Boo Bear = 10
Sweet Pea = 8
Bugsy = 10

What's for Supper?
I finally got to the kitchen! Princess is sick again. With her needing extra TLC, all our running lately & the kids dragging their feet (which means I have to chase after them) to do chores & schoolwork I haven't had a minute to get in the kitchen. Well, other than to clean it. Want to see what's cooking for supper?
I'm going to serve it with a green salad & Italian bread.
Yummers!

Beans, Beans, Beans
I mentioned before that I am trying to get more beans into our weekly menu. They are inexpensive & nutritious. Last night I made Black Bean Sloppy Joes for tonight's dinner and today I am making Baked Beans. I am using my Nana's recipe. She uses a bean pot but I am using crock pots. I soaked the beans overnight and then drained & rinsed them this morning. I didn't have any fatback in the house so instead I improvised with 3 ham steaks we had on hand. They are now set to cook for at least 8 hours.
I added 1.5 ham steaks to each crock pot.
