WRITING TIME

Getting down to work with their writing assignment about acronyms.

Sky does a great job holding up the white board.

His acronym for Skywalker (his cat).  The boys were allowed to choose.

 Bugs chose Sassy, his cat.

Reading his aloud to us.

Our next lesson was creating 'Scribble Stories'.  They closed their eyes and let their pencil roam over their paper.

Then whatever they had drawn they made into a picture.  It was a great way to use their imaginations!

Next they wrote a 4 to 5 sentence story about their scribble art pictures.  We emphasized on answering the questions, "Who, what, where, when & why" in their writing.

We had a fun time writing together!  I love this program!

Baking With My Boys

We've been trying to get back to making more baked good at home. It saves money which is #1. It is more filling for the kids as it adds to dinner & makes for a heartier breakfast too. The kids all love to cook & bake. I believe it's an important skill for both my girls & boys to learn.

The boys wanted to make Sassy Cinnamon Muffins on Thursday so we set to work. I quadrupled the recipe. I was impressed at how easily Elvis converted the measurements. They took turns adding the ingredients & then stirring them all up.

Stirring the batter together!

We decided to add in an extra treat to our muffins. Apples! I cut the apples up into little pieces. The boys enjoyed taking turns putting them in the batter.

Here are our muffins! We had some for a snack as we couldn't' wait for dinner time. Lol! We all had some at dinner too. Delicious! The boys were very proud of their work.

Soccer

Soccer has been so much fun. Though it can be crazy at times with 3 practices & 3 games a week we are loving it.

Princess watches her older siblings play.

He scored a goal!

We were so proud of him! He got a free kick & made the shot. Go Elvis!

Bugs has a terrific coach.

They're off on the run!

Goal!

I didn't get any pics of Boo this time because her game was at the field in the next town over.

Bongo

I'd like to introduce you to Elvis' new pal, Bongo. We rescued him from a yard sale last weekend. Now he is Elvis' sidekick. As you can see below he does everything with Elvis. =)

Watching a movie & snacking on popcorn.
Bongo took too long to eat it & Bugs snatched it up. Guess Bongo won't do that again! =)

Banana for Bongo

All peeled & ready to munch.

My bigger monkey dug right into his. No teeth? Didn't matter one bit!

Oh yeah!

The bigger monkey enjoyed his too.

Red Sam Kid & Mad Henry Rackham

We found these pirates while running errands today. They act ferocious but are truly cute. We decided to take them home with us. They have been fighting off the bad guys and hunting for treasure ever since!

Mad Henry Rackham (Bugs) :

Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

Red Sam Kid (Elvis):

Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!
