A New Haircut!

Little Miss Boo Bear has grown tired of keeping her long locks under control. I have been teasing her for some time that I was going to give her a haircut. In fact we were having dinner Wednesday night when the topic came up again. Thursday morning I asked her seriously if she wanted me to cut her hair. Right away she decided, "Yes!"
I set her up in the bathroom aka Mama's hair salon.
It was quite long. Longer than I first realized!

Together we decided on a length. My job was to move the scissors while she decided where I would cut.
After checking, double checking & triple checking with my "client" I made the first snip.
I think we were all a bit surprised at the length when it was clutched in her hand!
She is being a goof for the camera & her sister. Yes, she could have a career in entertainment. LOL!

Getting excited to see the results!
A few more snips to trim it up in the back.......
........and to even out the front as well.
Here she is! My beautiful girl! She loves it & received many compliments from her sweet friends. I told her she looks very cute & is now all ready for spring & summer! She says, "Bring it on!" Lol!

Trek Book 1 ~ DONE!

Boo finished her first AWANA Trek book this past Sunday night! It is written to be finished at the end of May. She has been working extra hard & is done 7 months early! I'm very proud of her!

As you can see by her smile she is very proud & happy too!

And of course she wouldn't be Boo Bear if she wasn't a little silly. Lol!

Congratulations, Boo Bear! Daddy & Mama are VERY proud of you!

Impressive Art

Boo drew this. She said she worked on it for quite some time. I am so impressed.

Nana
This is where she used oil pastels to color it in.

We definitely have an artist in the family.

Very Proud!

I am bursting with pride! Boo Bear competed in the AWANA Quiz Team Competition for the very first time. She was extremely nervous though she had studied for weeks. She was paired up with her friend that challenges her the most at AWANA. They were an amazing team! They only missed one question in the first round. In the 2nd round they "challenged out" which means not only did they answer the top amount of questions but gained bonus points for doing so. Her teacher told me this is the first time their group has ever done this! WOW! They ended up winning FIRST PLACE in their division! Go, Boo Bear! I thought she would do well but she exceeded my expectations! She was beaming & if it wasn't for the "golf game" cheering environment I would have been doing cartwheels & whooping as I twirled! LOL!

I forgot my camera but made sure to take pics when we came home.

So happy!

Her medal

Yay, Boo Bear!
Another division in her group won 1st place as well. They earned their medals plus a plaque for the church to display. The other divisions all placed too. It was a great day!
I was so impressed at this competition. These boys & girls really had to work hard in order to compete. They had to remember specific details from Bible verses, details about people in the Bible & lessons from their AWANA books. They also had to quote Scripture word for word often matching reference to the verses. It was very impressive & also inspiring. I don't know many adults, myself included, who could have stood ground in this competition. How wonderful to see our children learning about God & hiding His Word in their hearts.
I'm extremely proud of you Boo Bear! I love you!

Boo Bear's Bedroom

We spent 9 hours, yes, 9 hours working on Boo Bear's room last night. We didn't go to bed until the wee hours of the morning but we got the job done. Yay!

First Dave took down her top bunk. I didn't get a photo of the beds still together but you can imagine it, right? =0)

Then we moved all the furniture, picked up the junk & vacuumed. We scrubbed all the baseboards and the window sill. There were spots on the carpet that we scrubbed too. All the cleaning took quite awhile.
We moved the bed against the window but the rest of the furniture wouldn't fit well.

So we tried another option. This time we were pleased with the arrangement of the furniture. Daddy was a huge help in moving this all around as we decided where everything would go.

We switched out her dresser for Sweet Pea's since it is 4 inches shorter. Boo's went upstairs to my room. Next was cleaning out all the bins & boxes in her room & closet. My least favorite part.

The view from the doorway.
After hours & hours of work we were finally done! The books were sorted & placed on her bookshelves, her drawers were all cleaned out & arranged, her closet was purged & things placed neatly inside, her baskets under her bed were organized & her drawers under her bed all cleaned out. Her bedding is washed & the bed neatly made up. There are even 2 free drawers waiting empty for winter clothes! Yay!

The view from the closet.

Her tiny, organized closet.
We made the most of every little bit of space.

The view from her bed.
We were able to make a rather large pile of clothes & toys to give to Goodwill. A win-win as we can get it out of the house & someone else can use it.
With Boo's bedroom being so tiny we have to make certain to make the most of every space. One thing we do to help with storing her clothing is to put laundry baskets under her bed. They store toys as well as clothes. They are very inexpensive too & easy to take out & put back in. We've been doing this for years & it works very well for us.
