Part 2: Creative Discovery Center

After touring the aquarium we went out to the van to eat our picnic lunch. It was way too cold to eat outdoors. Plus we paid for the parking so why not? Lol. After we were done we walked the few blocks to the Creative Discovery Museum. What a fabulous, fun, educational, entertaining place!

A picnic lunch in our warm van.

This was our first visit to the Creative Discovery Museum. The kids were already talking about a return trip before we reached home!

The preschool & baby area had a train set. Bugs was immediately drawn to it.

Princess enjoyed crawling & climbing after being in the stroller & car seat for most of the day.

Her favorite part was the giant mirror. She loves her cute "friend". Lol.

Bugs took Princess for a spin in his new wheels.

They were so cute cruising together.

The arts area was great. Boo took a turn at weaving.

Boo was creative.

Elvis made a mosaic. No surprise he chose money. =)

This was one of our favorites. The music corner! All these instruments played when you pushed the button on them. You could have them play one at a time, a few at a time or all at once depending on how many buttons you pushed.

Our next stop was the dinosaur display. This map was pretty neat.

I made a new friend.

The kids dug for fossils in the sand.

Boo dons her archaeological hunt gear.

We found a cutie little dinosaur to take home with us.

And a big, happy dinosaur. He actually looked a bit crazy to me but he was harmless.

Then he showed his wild side!

I thought he looked super cute in that hat.

Our archelogcial crew.

The girls were facinated by a cockroach eating a cricket.

Bugs liked hearing the bees. He told me, "Mommy, they are saying Buzz, Buzz, Buzz. Cause they are bees and that's what they do!"

My little inventors.
They had a station full of Knex pieces & parts.

Electricity!

Dave couldn't resist & joined in the fun.

Air pressure

Then we went upstairs! More!
Bugs got to ride a bike.

And went kyaking by a waterfall.

Then Boo took a turn.

Elvis didn't want to be left out!

Bugs went camping too.

We gave Princess some things from the dress up trunk.

At first she wasn't sure what to do.

She played with it.....

.....and started a game of Peek-a-Boo.

Daddy was given a cup of hot cocoa that Bugs made in the nearby kitchen.

Mommy took a 2-minute snooze in her big, yellow, plastic chair.

The girls liked the playhouse & the basket on a pulley.

Elvis' eyes lit up when he saw the cash register & play money.

She was a pretty addition to this flower box.

This drum beat out the rhythm of your heartbeat.
Boo got it going with her little dance.

A little rock climbing wall.

We went back downstairs and realized we had missed a station. This one had lots of different musical instruments & an acting stage.

Horns

This piano played 3 different tunes. One was the theme to the Muppet Show & another was the theme to Looney Tunes. We played them over & over again to dance to them. =0)

Dave, Elvis & Claire went back to the Knex center to work on their car. Elvis was determined to get it running before we had to leave.

Little break here to jump on my soapbox: A pet peeve of mine is when parents take their kids out somewhere & spend the entire time (or a good part of it) texting or talking on their cell phones, blackberries, whatever. Come on people! Enjoy your children & have some fun with them. AND take care of them! We are NOT your babysitters. Often I think technology is a hinderance instead of a help. So sad.

Back to our music! A kettle drum & more!

Now the theater!
Boo boogies to the Muppet Show tune.

Testing out the sound board.

Boo either danced or pantamimed to the sounds and music Bugs played from the sound board.

She had us in stitches!

I don't know where she gets it from!

A giant harp sculpture.

He got it running!

He was extremely proud of himself! And we were too.
What determination!

Goofball!
What a FANTASTIC place! We can hardly wait to go back!
